This presentation will share the story of how our sixth grade team took an exciting but stand-alone NASA event, the opportunity to videoconference with astronauts onboard the ISS, and used it as a launch to empower a PBL unit embedding NGSS standards around experimental design and data analysis, as well as CCSS literacy standards.   Our discussion will focus on how our experience can serve as a framework to empowering deep standards based learning through PBL in your classroom.

At the end of thissession, attends will have a better sense of how to utilize some readily accessible NASA resources to engage students in content rich science inquiry.
