Schools have always faced the twin challenges of conserving important traditions and preparing students for a changing future. In this talk, we'll explore four important shifts taking place with implications for educators: exponential growth of informal learning, changing teaching practices inside colleges, the impact of automation on working life, and the continually improving field of the science of learning. Examining these important changes, we'll explore what schools need to preserve and where schools need to grow and change to prepare young people for a complex world.
